okay today i am feeling very motivated to do some awesome website work. i just want to get my thoughts in order here first.
the main thing that stands in my way is that i'm a little split on what sort of aesthetic i want to lean into for this site. i'd like to take everything apart and build it back up in a new way, but i don't really know what sort of new way i'd like to try out.
this website is a good example of something i'd like to try. ever since i came to Neocities, i've been enamored by websites like this. they're just so damn featureful and awesome to see, especially compared to how most of the internet seems to be these days.
something else that's been inspiring me recently is socpens' CHANNEL17 stuff, as well as just analog television in general. this video has a lot of cool stuff in it that can show you what i mean, but there's just something to it. maybe i'm just a fool for retro stuff, but i really like the design involved in these things and the way the colors interact with each other. it's cool. it's just so cool.
there's a couple of other things too, like this artist i follow on Tumblr, and all sorts of old animation, from 1920s rubberhose stuff to cel animation like in '80s anime. the world is rich with awesome things i'd like to be inspired by, and i'm spoiled for choice for directions i could go. but of course, i won't get anywhere if i stay paralyzed by indesicion.
i want to do a sort of combination refresh and cleanup of my site. there's a lot of things i'm not using still hanging out in the site files, so it's kind of a mess backstage. i'd like to optimize my code a bit too. i got some books about HTML and CSS from the last book sale at the library, so i really ought to put them to use. my tentative goal for all of this is to get at least the home page ready to reskin for the holidays/winter in general. the cold weather's about to get miserable over here, so we need some whimsy to keep our spirits up.
