I took a class on web design in my junior year of high school, and I really enjoyed it! I loved learning HTML and doing my assignments and making my silly little web pages. In the second semester, we switched to Wix to make our websites, which I didn't love. Everyone else was happy we didn't have to do HTML anymore, but HTML was my favorite part of the class! My grades took a bit of a down turn after that switch, I must be honest.
But I want to get back into doing what I love, and one of the things I love is this; typing away on my keyboard and building my silly web pages. I am admittedly a bit rusty in my HTML skills, but I'm sure I'll pick it back up in no time at all.
this page has been giving me trouble for a long while. it's hard to figure out how to format it and what information to put here, but i want to figure it out.
The Chavez Zone was first created on December 17, 2023. It was a Sunday, so I reckon what I was doing that day was sitting at home bored. I remember the page that got me interested in Neocities back then, and it's this. I found it by searching up "gnome" on Tumblr, because I think gnomes are interesting.
From then on until the end of the school year, whenever I had spare time in class, I was usually editing away on my school laptop, having so much fun. There wasn't really any particular purpose for this site in mind back then. I was just so jazzed to be able to use my meager HTML knowledge again, just doing whatever the hell I wanted, which was rambling about my favorite things, mostly.
These days, I'm thinking of having this site act as my main online presence. There's a lot of upsetting things out there on the world wide web these days, but this corner of it feels a bit safer. Less likely for my art to get fed to an AI around here, right? Leastways I hope so.
Right now, the site is going through a lot of change, just like yours truly. Hopefully, both the site and myself will come out the other side changed for the better. Fingers crossed.
My name is Chavez, webmaster of The Chavez Zone. There's not too much I'm willing to disclose about myself personally (internet safety and all that), but I will say that I'm half Mexican, a new(ish) adult, and the thing I want more than anything is to be a competent adult.
I'm an artist by nature; drawing, writing, I've been doing those things for my whole life. There's a handful of other things I'd like to pick up too, like guitar, 3D art and animation, video making, et cetera. A good chunk of this website is gonna be for displaying my work.
That's Beau! He's a weird little cartoon cat-hamster-boy-thing that acts as a mascot for The Chavez Zone alongside my avatar. I designed him for a story a long time ago, but since I didn't really do anything with the story, he's found a new home as a funny little guy that I just draw for fun. He's here because I wanted a second character on the splash page, and he's the same sort of abstraction between human and animal as my avatar, so he fits in nicely.
